Anniversary+Birthdays Weekend

Adam and I had our 4 year wedding anniversary on the 12th, along with my birthday on the 14th and Adam's on the 16th. April is always a pretty big month for us each year. This year we decided to take a weekend retreat to celebrate all in one. We landed on Santa Barbara for our trip. Adam had Friday off, so we left Friday morning and drove through a torrential downpour..and I mean torrential! We thought the windshield was going to shatter from it all. The weather over the whole weekend was a bit of a bummer, especially when the following week was well into the 70s and beautiful! But we had a great time regardless.
We took walks on the beach and the main street through all the shops in SB, ate yummy food (fish tacos..mmm..) and drove up to Solvang. Solvang is a small Danish village in the mountains about 30 outside of Santa Barbara. Thanks to the rain, the whole drive up there was absolutely beautiful! The village was charming and had THE most DELICIOUS breakfast EVER! If you ever go to Solvang (which you should!) you have to eat at Pamela's Pancake House. They have Danish Pancakes and Belgian Waffles that are to DIE for!
Most of all it was just super nice to get away from normal life for a few days. Not that our life is so terrible...We are super blessed with wonderful family, a good job, a roof over our head, a safe and beautiful community, etc etc. BUT sometimes you need a reprieve to reconnect, relax, laugh, and enjoy one another. This was our first real family vacation and we look forward to many more such successful retreats!

The view from our room (our hotel was right across the street from the beach!)

Solvang

Such a trooper as we dragged him all around

Danish Pancakes as big as the plate with FRESH strawberries!

My Birthday dessert-ColdStone! (Ever since working at Cold Stone in high school, I'm a totally ice cream snob, regular ice cream just doesn't do it for me anymore!

Awesome trip (dispite the weather). I love that you take so many pictures. Great thing for Connor to have some day. It looked so fun.
