38 Weeks

38 weeks!!! Get this baby out of me! Ok so maybe I'm not going that crazy, I still feel good I just finally feel READY. Our move last week was a bit rough. Everybody else did the work (thank you Adam, mom, dad, Tanner, Brandon, Colin, Caroline, and Russ!) but I still managed to come away with sausage toes and cankles. The swelling lasted all week, painfully, but is now thankfully gone and I feel much improved. We installed the car seat, I packed our hospital bag, we're ready!!

Icing my poor swollen tootsies

I went to the doctor for my weekly appointment on Thursday and I was 1 cm. dilated and 40% effaced with contractions coming once or twice a day. Then on Friday I started to get more contractions so today, Sunday, we started timing them and they're coming 20 minutes apart. They're not getting any closer together, but maybe that will help the progress along? We'll see at our next appointment!

By the way, we love our new place! We are so happy with our apartment, our ward, and Fountain Valley/Huntington Beach. Come visit us any time!

And this is about how Adam feels these days.

36 Weeks

We are now at 36 weeks and getting super anxious to meet Little Man. I had my last ultrasound this last week at the high risk doctor to see how boy is faring size-wise. Turns out he was right at 6 lbs. which is right at average for 36 weeks! Way to go baby! And way to go Mommy for sticking to the diabetes diet and exercise plan! Am I allowed to toot my own horn? I think so.

He is still moving like crazy and he is head down ready to make his way. After our move this upcoming Saturday, he is welcome to come any time. We love you no-name baby boy Todd!!

You Know You're in the 3rd Trimester When...

So I am REALLY sorry that all my posts are about pregnancy!! It has probably been really boring reading for a lot of you, but pregnancy IS what my life IS at the moment. And it's only going to get worse when the baby comes and every post is about him, so there ya go you've been forewarned.

I just saw this list from a blog that was linked in one of my baby update emails. Enjoy.

You know you’re in the 3rd trimester when…
Picking up a sock off the ground requires preparation and thought.
There are crumbs on your belly that you don’t notice until you stand up.
There are crumbs in your cleavage that you don’t notice until you change.
You’re afraid to laugh or sneeze too hard (you know why…)
People look at your belly before your face.
You buy new big-girl panties.
You get mad that Nordstrom is at the other end of the mall from Macy’s.
You consider getting into the car to drive from Nordstrom to Macy’s.
Heartburn visits you before, during, and after every meal, regardless of what you eat.
You’re full in 10 bites or less.
Maneuvering a mirror around your belly to see if you have any stretch marks becomes a daily pastime.
You break a sweat walking from the car to the door.
You wish someone would offer you a ride from the car to the door.
Exercise equals getting up from the couch to fill up your water glass.
After picking up a few socks you decide that from now on you’ll leave anything that falls to the floor exactly in its place until your husband comes home to pick it up for you.
You select your shoes based on which would be the easiest to put on.
You stop wearing your rings in fear of the swelling you know is soon to come.
Rolling over in bed is a task that requires counting out loud. 1,2,3 GO! (This one really made me laugh because just last night as I was rolling over in bed, I must have made a lot of grunting and exhaling noises because Adam reached over and asked in a groggy but concerned voice if I was ok. I think the poor guy thought I was going into labor.)
You stare at the cute baby clothes in the nursery at least 5 times a day.
You panic about not having the nursery completely ready.
You forget what life was like before you fell in love with the baby in your belly.

Now, your turn… You know you’re in the 3rd trimester when…

Calling all Moms

After we move in a couple weeks, I will be starting to get things ready for baby's arrival. We have done nothing, bought nothing, prepared nothing so far--literally! We just simply didn't want to get a bunch of stuff, have to pile it in our current tiny apartment, and then have to move it all. Hopefully that doesn't mean we'll be caught unawares by baby coming early! So this may be a little premature, but I want to be ready when it's time to get ready for the hospital (installing the car seat, packing a hospital bag, etc.)

I'm sending this question out to all experienced mamas who have done the hospital thing: What should I pack in my/Adam's hospital bag? What things have you found useful, what could you not have lived without during your stay, any tips you have for a new mommy and daddy to make our hospital and delivery experience a little easier would be appreciated. We'll be living over an hour away from our hospital once we move, so we can't exactly be hopping back and forth if we forget something or think of something we want.

Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!
