Since our last post, we spent Christmas in California with my family and had a blast! It was so fun having almost everyone (minus Tyler who is on his mission) together for my absolute favorite holiday! Besides having the stomach flu spread through the house at the end of the trip, we had a great time playing too much rockband, lots of games, eating delicious food, opening presents, going on morning walks, playing basketball on the sport court, footie pajamas, ugly sweater bowling, and watching movies. Although family get-togethers are slightly stressful with such a big family-I love it!
We drove back home on New Year's Eve, and spent a much-needed quiet and exhausted evening at home together. Duke spent the next few days getting over the trauma of spending a week with my parent's tormenting bigger dog, and sleeping off the Tylenol P.M. we gave him to keep him pleasant for the long drive home.
A few days later, much too early for our liking, we began yet another semester. My Student Teaching is in Shelley, which is about a 45 minute drive each morning and evening. My cooperating teacher is quite possibly the best in the business, and I am SO lucky to learn from her. I'm extremely intimidated to even teach in front of her, and let alone when I start taking over the entire day of teaching, but she's always so positive in her feedback! My kids are a joy and I learn so much from them, and only hope that I can make some kind of difference in their fragile lives!
Well I'd say that's about enough of an update for now. We're busy busy and hardly have time for anything but eat, sleep, and school, but today I heard a quote that has helped me put things in perspective:
"I could have been happy, if only I had stopped to realize how happy I was." (I could be butchering it) We spend so much time thinking how happy we'll be when we graduate, or when we finally have kids of our own, or when we have money to our name, but if only we would stop and realize how great our lives are right this very minute!
